QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENT
The Port Authority of Motril has obtained the certificate in conformity with the UNE-EN-ISO 9001/2008 and UNE-EN-ISO 14001/2004 standards after passing the External Audit of certification made by SGS Ibérica SA, in December 2009, in the following activities:
Rendering of port services, which include:
investments in port infrastructures in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the General Procurement Procedures of the State Ports and Port Authorities, handled by open procedure; maritime signalling; anchoring and berthing of vessels management; port areas management, warehouses, buildings and facilities for storage and handling of goods, vehicles and passenger traffic, management and supervision of the port’s public areas; as well as surveillance and security management.
As a result, this Port Authority is committed to the quality of services, involving all customers and suppliers, as well as to respect the environment with the accomplishment of the corresponding legislation trying to improve the limits established by this legislation.
Moreover, the Port Authority has established two contracts with the University of Granada, one to carry out the analysis and control of air pollution in the Port of Motril and the other to control and monitor the marine waters and sludge of the Port of Motril.
It also has a Plan of Reception and Handling of waste received from Cargo Ships and Cargo Waste as provided in the RD 1381/2002, as well as an Interior Contingency Plan for Accidental Marine Pollution as set out in the RD 253/2004.
También y como consecuencia de la entrada en vigor de la Ley 33/2010, de modificación de la Ley 48/2003, de 26 de noviembre, de régimen económico y de prestación de servicios en los puertos de interés general se redacta una Guía de Buenas Prácticas Ambientales para la Manipulación y Almacenamiento de Graneles Sólidos, así como un compendio de Referenciales Específicos desarrollando de forma específica los referenciales generales establecidos por Puertos del Estado para todo el sistema portuario español que consiste en recoger las características de calidad aplicables a los servicios prestados en las terminales portuarias de manipulación y almacenamiento de graneles del Puerto de Motril. Ambos documentos son base para la aplicación de bonificaciones en las tasas de actividad imputadas a las terminales por las operaciones realizadas, como establece el artículo 19 de la mencionada Ley. A estos efectos se entenderá por Terminal de graneles aquella instalación portuaria especializada en realizar la transferencia de mercancías presentadas a granel entre los modos marítimo y terrestre o el tránsito y trasbordo marítimo de los mismos.

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY
There is a procedure for the Coordination of Business activities, as provided in Article 24 of Law 31/1995, dated 8th November, of Prevention of Occupational Risks developed by the Royal Decree 171/2004, dated 30th January, of Business Activities Coordination, which is implemented with all the companies entering into concurrence in the port area.
